We had a delightful evening last Saturday.  Quite a few new visitors – we hope you had a lovely evening and will come back soon.  BUT NOT IN AUGUST.  We’re going to be starting our Summer break soon – our last evening is the informal Milonga and Social Evening on Sunday 25th July.  Then, there’s no monthly Milonga, classes or Prácticas  until the Milonga on Saturday 11th September, with the Autumn Programme and all our regular weekly events starting from the following day, Sunday 12th.

Next Saturdy, 10th July at St. Joan’s Centre, Farnham.

Dancing from 7.45 to 11.15pm.

Calling all Unidexter Tango Dancers. (Remember Peter Cooke & Dudley Moore?)

A man’s soft leather shoe – Supadance, approx size 7, with an intriguing extra suede sole added, was left at the Farnham Milonga on Saturday.

Please let us know if it’s yours.

We have been asked to clarify whether it will be possible to dance at this event.

David and Kim have confirmed that there will be a Milonga in addition to the demonstrations and performances.  We will also  be able to dance to the live music (Tango Siempre) – a relatively rare opportunity in this country.

Saturday 3rd July,  7:45 – midnight

David Benitez & Kim Schwartz have asked us to advertise this charitable event, in support of children in Argentina,  which we are delighted to do.  We  have already purchased our tickets.  The evening features:

- Live music  from Tango Siempre – the UK’s leading tango orchestra

- Dance displays by David Benitez & Kim Schwartz

- a special performance by Tango Movement Students!

- Traditional tango music all night long, lovingly selected by David & Kim!

will be on Saturday 12th June at St. Joans.

We are running our weekly schedule of Classes & Practice Evenings as usual.

. . . was a great success. It was wonderful to get together to celebrate this amazing music and how it inspires us to dance.

The consistent feedback from everyone we spoke to is how much there is to know about Tango music – much more than they realised, and (of course) so much more than we can cover in one afternoon. Also, how a better understanding of the music contributes to your dance.

So, we are starting to think about next steps, including:

- running this workshop again for all those who wanted to do it but missed it due to diary clashes. There is a lot of interest in finding out more about the history, the evolution of Tango music and key musicians of the Golden Age.

- a follow up where we would delve further into specific aspects of the music. So, less on the history and the musicians, more on rhythm, phrasing and the structure of Tango pieces. And, of course, how to apply this in your dance.

- a further possibility, looking at how you use your understanding of Tango music to dance more creatively and expressively.

We would probably look to introducing these next phases in September, after the summer break, but with the possibility of re-running the first workshop sooner.

Please let us know your thoughts.
