The Progressive Programme
The Progressive Programme is an ongoing series of classes to help dancers with some experience to continue to improve. The overall theme is “Creating your Dance”, and we build on all the Foundation Skills – so you will need to be competent at these already. For example, in order to develop your Giros, it’s vital that you can already dance good Ochos. We therefore encourage you to use the Foundation class as a warm up to this class.
We then progressively add new elements, combining with steps you’ve already learned. In this way we help you remember your existing repertoire whilst introducing more variety. Alongside the new content we continue to focus on connection, leading / following and style, to create a dance that is fluid, integrated and musical.
There is so much more to learn here than we can possibly cover in one series. As a result, each term the Progressive Programme will contain certain core elements – for example the Giro & its variations – plus quite a lot of new material. It takes about a year to cover all the possible content, and most dancers will want to continue attending these classes as the mainstay of improving their Tango.
