Tango DJ
We know we're biased, but we believe Tango is just about the best popular music ever written! The music we play spans eighty years and four continents, yet is immediately recognisable and unmistakably Tango. There is more about Tango Music in the About Tango section.
You can hire Peter to DJ your Tango event!
We believe that the music can make or break a Milonga, both the choice of music and the quality of the sound system, so we pay particular attention to this aspect of your enjoyment of Tango.
Where a more traditional approach is preferred we use the Tanda convention throughout the Milonga. We work no more than one Tanda ahead, so that the music is always fresh and the choice can be fine tuned to create the best possible atmosphere. At some venues we prefer to use Tandas and Cortinas more sparingly, mainly to influence the mood in response to what’s happening in the room.
You can expect a rich variety of the very best classic Tango, Milonga and Vals, occasional modern Tango and tango related favourites, Jive, Salsa and Chacarera.
We display Tanda information, regularly updated, via a second computer and projector, so that Dancers can see what they are dancing to and plan ahead. This has proved extremely popular and we believe we are unique on the UK Tango scene in offering this feature.
We aim to fill the Hall with sound which can be heard clearly everywhere without being uncomfortably loud anywhere. To create this we use a four speaker system, where space and layout permit, with one in each corner of the room. The additional sound sytem also provides us with a very adequate backup in the unlikely event that any individual component fails on the night.
Infinitely variable colour stage lighting completes the kit list for the creation of just the right atmosphere.
For the technically inclined, our current kit includes:
PC music source with second laptop and CD backup
Digital output to Allen & Heath mixer
Front speakers - 2 x Mackie SRM450 active cabs
Secondary (rear) PA - Behringer PMH2000 powered mixer with 2 x Peavey passive cabs
Lighting - 4 x NJD Spectre portable stage lights.
